Amy R. Wheatley

Amy R. Wheatley is a seasoned trial attorney known for strategic clarity, direct communication, and relentless advocacy for clients facing high-stakes legal problems. With 25 years of experience, she has built a reputation for strong results in personal injury and a steady, confident courtroom presence.

What makes Amy’s approach especially effective is her early career foundation in insurance defense. She understands how the other side evaluates risk, builds cases, and tries to limit payouts, and she uses that insight to protect injured clients and maximize outcomes.

Amy’s path to law is uniquely shaped by communication and leadership. She studied broadcast journalism and worked full-time as a television news producer, helping create and lead morning show formats in Evansville and later producing a top-rated morning show in Kansas City while attending law school part-time. That background shows up in how she practices today: she’s organized, calm under pressure, and skilled at turning complex facts into clear, compelling arguments.

After law school, Amy served as a public defender in Jefferson County, Kentucky, representing criminal and family court clients. She later worked for nearly five years in the civil arena with insurance defense firms before joining Stein Law in 2008. Since then, she has focused primarily on personal injury while also handling estate planning, elder law, and probate administration. 

Amy has trial experience in major multi-plaintiff litigation, including a 2016 Floyd County case in which Stein Law represented 23 plaintiffs and obtained a collective verdict of $4.4 million. 

She lives in Jeffersonville with her husband, Craig, and their two children, Rex and Nola, and remains actively involved in the Southern Indiana community.
